Putting the Feminine back in Feminism

In my 30's, after I got married and had children, I was disillusioned with the messages of the 1970's-style "Anything men can do I can do better" brand of feminism. Not wanting to revert back to June Cleaver, I also recognized that I was living my life like a she-man--taking care of house, home, kids, and business, and I was doing it all primarily through my masculine energy, because I believed masculine energy was the powerful one, the energy you needed to get things done. I wish I'd found Cynthia Occelli's Resurrecting Venus back then.
Finally, a book for woman that addresses the real concerns we face--of how to live in and through our feminine essence and still be powerful in the world. Confronting head-on what for years had seemed like an unresolvable dichotomy, author Cynthia Occelli opens our minds and hearts to the idea that we can be competent, functional, powerful people and still enjoy the juiciness of being feminine women. Covering issues such as dating, love, sex, motherhood, career, as well as our relationships toward one another and how we treat other women, Occelli suggests alternative ways of being to help us feel at home in our own selves and reclaim and celebrate our divine feminine nature.
I believe this book could transform the whole conversation around feminism and what it means to be a true feminist--one who embodies and promotes the feminine. I hope it does.

Resourceful, powerful, identifiable, keep near for reference

I do not normally read anything that can not hold my attention in the first couple of pages. This is a read that I could not stop reading. Cynthia speaks about what I think and I suspect many women think and feel. This is a right of passage, not a bashing, not a forbidden thought process. It is about identifying with your inner self, your unspoken thoughts. They are real, true, and such a blessing when you learn to embrace them. I believe all women need to revel in this book. I also wholeheartedly feel women with female children need to instill this process so they too can grow up feeling empowered. Cynthia is a real been-there-done-that person. And people who have been-there-done-that are the best people to learn from. Cynthia you have lit the torch and fueled the fire; do not ever stop; you are a true blessing!

Life-Changing Read!

I remember being in college and 'planning for the future.' I was surrounded by women that were so driven toward Corporate America and so down on being a 'stay-at-home mom'. There was a lot of talk about 'doing it better than men,' making as much money as men, as well as 'man-bashing.' While I truly believe in equality in the work-place regarding compensation, etc, I was always confused by this talk. For myself, I wanted my own career, but I also wanted to raise a family-I wanted to be a mother. Once I became a mother, a single mother, I still dreamed of family, but then was faced with being the mother and father as well as the sole financial support of my little family. I have struggled with the balancing act--mainly because it doesn't allow me the time I would like to put into being a mother. Now, as my own family unit has formed, I embrace all that is woman and reading this book was an inspiration that came at just the right time in my life!
Resurrecting Venus is a book that speaks to the true heart and true nature of a woman. As I read it, I couldn't believe how the words felt like my own, speaking to me so deeply. I found myself reading parts of it to my fiance and both of us would say out loud 'YES!" in response.
Resurrecting Venus is a MUST read (for women AND men!) and Cynthia Occelli is a way-shower to any woman seeking the path back to WOMAN!
