About the Author
Lonnie has written three books. His book, Doughboy is scheduled to be published and released one month after his first book (Crytal Waters) that took him three years to complete. Before he was old enough to legally drink a beer, Lonnie had spent five years in the California Youth Authority. He spent his twenty-first birthday in California's most infamous state prison; San Quentin. Now Lonnie is an inspiring author with a college degree. His uniqueness stems from his experiences. He was raised in Los Angeles, and he builds his characters off of true life people that he has walked with during his journey in life; bank robbers, and drug dealers, and gang members, and hustlers of every genre are people that he grew up knowing and loving - and now writing about.

Crystal Waters and the Cut Throat Committee

First and foremost, this is not the genre that I normally choose to read. I normally do not read about gangsters, and street life, and the only time I read about bank robberies is when I read a whodunit or true crime, but I had heard some good things about Crystal Waters so I figured that I would give it a shot-pun intended.
I also was warned that there was a lot of profanity in Crystal Waters, and while there is quite a bit - reader beware - the profanity was normal for street thugs and honestly no more and no worse than I heard in the Navy and not really any more than you might find in a Stephen King novel.
The reader should also know that there are a few fairly explicit sex scenes so if that bothers you then do not read it.
Mr. Cowan weaves a very suspenseful novel. The further I read into the novel the more enrapt I became. If I had bought the paperback back book instead of the kindle version I could say that this was a real page turner-it is! As the excitement and tension built I could not read fast enough or make enough time to read. A few nights I went to bed disappointed; disappointed because I could not afford to stay awake reading and I wanted to find out what happened next!
I would encourage you to read Crystal Waters: The Cut Throat Committee if you like true-to-life street life and adventurous vicarious living, then you will enjoy this book as much as I have. Personally, I look forward to the next adventure by Mr. Cowan and hope to read another adventure about the boys from Overtown!
